The Team

Dan Matthews

Principal

Following an illustrious career as an international corporate lawyer, Dan followed his dream to pursue real estate development, returning to Orlando to found Lakeview Oak in 2017. He is combining his legal expertise and finance knowledge with his passion to enhance and revitalize Central Florida's historic small cities with unique and human-scale, mixed-use developments.

During his 30 years in practice, Dan held leadership roles with the original global law firm, Baker McKenzie, including managing partner of the Istanbul (Turkey) and Baku (Azerbaijan) offices. Prior to that, he worked in the firm's Moscow (Russia) office. Dan has advised domestic and multinational clients on all types of cross-border transactions and related structuring, credit support, taxation, customs and currency control issues. He was repeatedly ranked by Chambers Global and the IFLR 1000 as a leading lawyer in his areas of practice. Chambers Global noted that he has been "commended for his enthusiasm and pragmatic approach to transactions" and that "he always produces quality work and is a first-class manager."

Dan earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. He and his family live in Orlando.

Jose Venegas

Partner

With almost 20 years of urban design and architectural consulting experience, Jose's innovative and  thoughtful approach can be seen in over 50 design projects resulting in master plan visions for regions, cities, towns, campuses, and business real estate assets. Through JJV | Studio, his private consulting practice, he is partnering with Lakeview Oak to bring an innovative design platform to create new projects that will revitalize walkable communities with mixed-use infill construction on a human scale.

Jose was drawn to collaborate with Lakeview Oak to pursue his passion for new urbanism in creating strong and sustainable communities where people can live work, and play. His strong work ethic combines his creative talents with a meticulous ability to streamline design processes.

Jose received his undergraduate degree from Loma Linda University and his Master of Architecture from the University of Miami. He and his family live in Orlando.
